Manchester Airport Contol Tower

Project – Manchester Airport Control Tower
Project Value to CSL –  £230k+
Main Contractor – Morgan Sindall PLc
Main Contract Value –  £16m

Once again Morgan Sindall Plc have chosen Cheshire Scaffolds Ltd to carry out the Access Scaffolding at Manchester Airports new FLAGSHIP air traffic control tower, not only is this a testament to Cheshire Scaffolds Expertise but also demonstrates our ability to compete with our competitors at the HIGHEST levels.

The tower is 60m (197 ft) high and was built using a method of continuous concrete pouring, using some 600 cubic metres of concrete and 65 tons of reinforced steelwork. The completed tower will replace the existing 40 year old tower and dominate Manchester’s skyline, providing a 360 degree panoramic view of the entire airport and be positioned next to the North fire station. The building of the tower coincides with the introduction of a new air traffic control system at the airport, which has seen controllers moving from paper logs to a digital system.
